Abstract

The talk gave an interpretation framework about the concepts of postmodernism, orientalism, post-colonialism, clarifying actual meanings, in order to discuss how post-colonialism can be framed in Chinese perspective, and can be adapted and understood as a present issues in Chinese society

Speaker Biography

Prof. Dr. LEI Yi, native of Changsha (Hunan), is a renowned historian and intellectual working at the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), where he worked since 1985. He publishes extensively on late Qing history and frequently writes essays and comments on current events in the press, in blogs and on Weibo (China’s equivalent of Twitter). Southern People Weekly nominated him for the “2011 List of China’s Most Interesting People”.
